The plant grows to the height of 2-15cm from the ground. The leaves those are closer to ground are usually aged, rough in texture and darker in color. Though the seeds of this plant are small, breeding process is easily done by the main stem. The roots of this plant hold the ground tightly and grow up to 2metre in dry season. Roots of this plant also grow from the joints of the stem and spreads on the ground in thick net shape. In high temperate regions it grows quickly and in winters the plant almost stops growing.     

Cynodon Dactylon has a special significance in Indian culture. Cynodon Dactylon – the local grass of the American Continent is now found all over the world. In Ayurveda, Cynodon Dactylon is considered as one of the “Maha-oushadh” (Super medicine) for Bata (Joint problems), Pitta (Stomach problems) and Kapha (Problems related to Lungs). Cynodon Dactylon has been used as medicinal herb for a very long time. Because of its medicinal properties the herb is popularly known in the traditional ways of treatments.

Benefits of Cynodon Dactylon

  1. Helps in Conceiving

Dubori may help in conceiving. If you are facing problems in conceiving, you can make fritters from the mixture paste of Dubori and Parboiled rice. Eat this fritter 3 to 4 times a week. It will help in this particular problem.

In the treatment of Chronic Diarrhea and Chronic extract of Durba is used as traditional medicine. In this health disease it is beneficial to take Dubori extract/juice mixed with raw milk. 

Uses- In case of the mentioned disease, Dubori juice (2 to 3 spoons) mixed with pomegranate leaf juice or pomegranate peel juice (4 to 5 spoons) can be consumed 3 to 4 times a day. Repeating the process for up to 10 to 15 days will make Adhesion better.

According to Ayurveda, Durba is a super medicine in the treatment of hemoptysis.  This disease can cause blood secretion from different parts of the body other than the mouth and nostrils.  In this matter, consuming Dubori juice mixed with raw milk can give relief from the disease.

  1. Beneficial in preventing Hair fall

One who is suffering from excessive hair fall problem can use Durba and get benefitted from it. 

Uses- Heat 1 litre of coconut oil in a pan on low flame, mix 200ml Dubori juice in it and heat the mixture again. Filter the liquid mix and store it in a glass bottle. Apply the mixture on your hair one hour before taking bath. Repeating the process 2 to 3 times a month may reduce hair fall.

  1. Beneficial in Pyorrhea

Durba is a popularly known traditional medicine for Pyorrhea. In order to treat this health problem, you can simply brush your teeth with the roots of Dubori plant. It will help relieving the condition.

  • In case of weakness due to Leukoplakia, you can take Dubori juice and raw turmeric mixed in the same quantity of each. Doing this may relieve the health problem. 
  • People suffer from difficulties while urinating (excluding stone) can take Dubori juice mixed with water and milk to get beneficial results.
